Hi, how can we help?

RCD Test Procedure

Why might you want to?

You might want to test an RCD (Residual Current Device) to ensure the electrical system remains safe and reliable, protecting against electric shocks, fires, and equipment damage. RCDs are designed to cut off power instantly if they detect even a small leakage of current, which could indicate a fault or a person coming into contact with live components.

Regular testing, by pressing the built-in test button, helps verify that the device is functioning correctly and within the required trip time and sensitivity limits. For homeowners, landlords, and businesses, this is a legal and safety requirement, ensuring compliance with BS 7671 Wiring Regulations and workplace health and safety laws. Additionally, testing can help diagnose nuisance tripping or identify hidden faults in an electrical system, preventing unexpected power loss and potential hazards before they become dangerous.

How to test?

Head to the NexBlue Partner App and navigate to the charge point that you want to test. Once on the page, tap settings and scroll down to RCD test

Once you've reached this stage, press the button on the bottom of the charge point as seen in the below image

Once the button has been pressed, the App will then take over again, with the RCD test taking between 3 and 10 seconds, followed by a screen to show the test was successful
